American-Palestinian Youth Freed After 270 Days in Israel's Detention

An American-Palestinian adolescent having endured a nine-month period in imprisonment by Israel without being charged was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested in February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, claims he consistently denied.

United States authorities expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization right after being freed, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

In a statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he needs after experiencing harsh conditions and cruel circumstances over several months."

The state department announced ongoing to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, demanding more be done to release him.

There were no visits nor direct contact since the arrest, learning information solely about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges in Ofer prison in the West Bank.
