Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order placed a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" associated with the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
